1-day Vegan Shoemaking in Hoboken with Rebecca Heykes

In this one-day intensive private, in-person course you will be making a simple shoe of your choice— 100% animal free! Pick a date of your choice- and work with Rebecca in Hoboken to create your very own vegan shoes!

Bring your creativity to this 1-day Vegan Shoemaking class, and create a quick and easy version of your animal-free dream shoe. In this intensive class you will get hands-on with every part of the process.

Once you’ve arrived the morning of the class, you will review material and color options and once you’ve decided, you will cut the uppers from the existing patterns. You’ll then sew the upper pieces together and pull the sewn uppers around the shoe last (this is called “lasting”). Next step is to attach the pre-prepared outsoles to the lasted uppers, then remove the partially-completed shoe from the last, slip in a comfort insole, and you’ll have a completed pair of vegan shoes to wear home and brag about on Instagram!

Please note: The first step actually occurs after you’ve signed up for the class, and before you arrive for class. With at least three days’ notice, the teacher Rebecca request your shoe size and design choice so that she can prepare your outsoles (this takes about 3-4 hours per pair, so please sign up with ample notice). The style options available for women are an almond-toe flat, casual oxford and a sneaker. Men can choose between a chukka boot and a sneaker. COVID-19 Advisory: Rebecca used to allow groups of up to four students, but is currently keeping each session to just two people maximum to ensure everyone's safety and adequate social distancing during the entirety of the class. :)

This class will be taught by one of our talented teachers Rebecca Heykes, who is the founder of Loyal Footwear, a vegan footwear brand, made in USA, and owner of Heykes Studio. She is a London College of Fashion alumni, and has extensive experience in both corporate footwear design and development as well as physical shoemaking, sampling and patterning and production.

**This class is taught Off-site at the home of Loyal Footwear in Hoboken, NJ, allowing you to access a more extensive library of vegan material choices. This class is not held in Brooklyn. **
