Jason Hovatter from Laughingcrowe in Portland, Oregon will be visiting Brooklyn to teach the Modern Turn shoe making class and the internal stitchdown chukka boot making class.
Internal Stitchdown Chukka Boot Making Class
In this four day class, you will cast your feet, make patterns, select leathers, cut and skive the leathers, stitch and assemble the shoes. Once the upper and sole are attached you will move onto closure and finishing and finally attaching and trimming the outsoles.
5 student max
You will learn a wide assortment of leather working techniques and tools in these classes. Once you understand how to attach the upper to the sole on this pair, you are fee to let your imagination run wild on your next uppers! These shoes could easily last you for the rest of your life if well taken care of.

About Jason:
When Jason was young he traveled the country via foot and freight train learning various leatherworking skills and apprenticed with a master shoemaker in Southern Oregon. He now runs his own custom shoemaking workshop and school in Portland as well as traveling to folk craft skills schools around the US teaching both period and modern style shoemaking.
