In this four-day course, Zen from Greenwich Vintage Co will guide you through resoling and restoring your very own wingtips, boots and chukkas.
Please bring your own shoes which the outsoles have worn down, that you’d like to save.
Upon sign-up, please indicate SHOE SIZE as well as what type of shoes you are going to bring in, (exp: derby black, or Brown Oxfords). Your shoes should have welt.
You will focus on pouring outsoles, deconstructing the shoes to prepare for the outsoles, re-cork, re-midsole, then putting new outsoles onto those shoes that you have. We can show you a bit of repairing some upper as well using a patching machine, but our main focus will be learning Zen’s trade of his special outsoles, and attaching them.
You will get to use their in-house model moulds, (The Commando style) and learn how to pour your own color combos, and create your colored soles. You will also be able to see, feel and purchase any of their signature outsoles, including the glow-in-the-dark series and camo-series as well.
The Landis Mckay stitcher whisperer will also show you how to use the machine to stitch up your outsoles.
Class includes all materials.
Greenwich Vintage Co was founded in 2011 by Tamas “Zen” Pomazi and Max Miller. Zen took his love for sneakers and married it with some old wing tips that had been passed down from his father. Today he and his partner have built an outsole company that gives some of the biggest brands in footwear a run for their money. Come and discover the making process behind the TGR Resin and Polyurethene outsoles and learn a few secrets to competing with footwear giants.
Make sure to also check out the free event the night before- on October 27, 2016 6-9pm, there will be a mingle meet and greet with Zen. The interview will start at 7pm.
