Sneaker De-Con/Re-con with the Shoe Surgeon

This 5 day intensive course will focus on deconstructing and reconstructing sneakers.

Taught by The Shoe Surgeon, you’ll learn everything from removing soles to deconstructing a shoe, patterning basics, sewing, and reconstructing an upper. You'll learn to skive, sand and a number of other techniques and best practices from one of the best.

Day 1: Introduction to The Shoe Surgeon. A brief history on shoe making, and shoe brands that inspire us.  Students will show their shoe and tell us why they chose it. Deconstruct and clean up shoe.

Day 2: Patterning - Students will learn how to make a pattern and roll python

They’ll learn gluing and cutting techniques

Day 3: Cutting and Start Sewing

Day 4: Finish Sewing

Day 5: Glue into the sole. Learn how to hand stitch sidewall.

All materials included (except shoe to deconstruct). We encourage students to bring a pair of shoes to work on. We are working on sourcing variety of outsoles to choose from to attach :)
