We welcome you to join us for a 2-evening pattern making master class taught by the renowned bespoke shoemaker Andrew McDonald who has traveled far from Sydney, Australia. The class is designed for the shoemaker who has had previous experience in shoemaking and pattern making who would like to broaden their design scope. The course focuses on Pattern making design lines so you can build a repertoire of styles from boots, shoes, sandals and more, for men and women.
This is an opportunity to discover a more artistic approach to Pattern Making from one of the most renowned avant-garde shoemakers in the world.We encourage you to bring your own last, or otherwise you can use any lasts from Brooklyn Shoe Space. Feel free to bring your own clicking tools and pattern making tools if you already have them. But in general, tools and supplies to use in class are included in the price of the class.
The goal is for Andrew to spend time helping each student develop their vision.

About Andrew McDonald:
Since 1990, Andrew has been designing, handcrafting bespoke footwear from his workshop in the iconic Strand Arcade in Sydney’s Central Business District. 1996 Andrew was awarded a Churchill Fellowship, to study traditional hand shoe making techniques in the United Kingdom and France. Studying under master craftsmen, John Lobb and Paul Harnden Shoemakers, Andrew developed a complex and considered practice. He has multiple collaborations under his belt, but one of the ones you may know are- Anakin boots from Star Wars, and Superman boots for Brandon Ruth etc.
